I Love Big Kitchens

My favorite part about being home is having a humongous kitchen again. I attempted to start unpacking in the mornings, but it never actually happened until Thursday. Mom took afternoons off to hang out with me. On Monday, we spent the whole afternoon cooking. We made gingerbread granola, buffalo/bbq, bbq, and salt & vinegar cauliflower wings, rocky road bars, and ranch pretzels. On later days, we made chickpea flour muffins (like egg muffins, but vegan), stuffed mushrooms (which were too salty, so we cut them up and put them in rice), chik’n caesar salad, pancakes, and apple cider.

On Wednesday, Addie, my best friend from high school, came over. We talked about my time in Chicago and her time at art school, ate Cruizzers, and watched Sherlock. Fun fact: according to Timehop, we watched Sherlock 5 years ago that day. She also made the SS Ketchup. #artschool

On Friday, my aunts, Linda and Brenda, and cousins, Jackie and Abi, came in from Nebraska and Kansas. We did a little shopping and crocheting. Then more of that on Saturday, church, cooking, and games on Sunday, and more shopping, crocheting, and going to the Green Room, a cool venue space, with my dad’s side of the family on Monday night! When we went to Peaches Wholesale, they had a Boxer Pit puppy there and we got to hold him and play with him. He was ADORABLE and had beautiful blue eyes. He yawned a lot and then he peed on Jackie.

For Christmas Day lunch, I made Thyme & White Bean Pot Pies, Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes, and Traditional Bread and Sausage Stuffing. Sooooooo yummy. Even my non-vegan family thought so. The games we played were Pit and that one Christmas game where you wrap the presents in a ball of saran wrap and try to unwrap it with gloves on while the person next to you tries to roll a double on a pair of die. That was a fun one. I got an Instant Pot for Christmas, and I am PUMPED to use it. I’ve been begging for one since the beginning of last summer.

I won’t get to see them again until the summer or maybe not until next Christmas, but we always have a fun time when we’re together.

Next week you get to hear about what Allie, Lucy, and I do all week! Yay cousin time!
